This is a new Linux 64-bit development pre-release of projectMSDL, built against the latest libprojectM 4.1.1 and a shared SDL2 library. It will require a recent Linux distro to run on (glibc 2.35 or higher is needed, e.g. Ubuntu 22.04) and have a libSDL2 library installed, ideally 2.0.16 or newer. It is packaged as a Debian package which should install and run on most Debian-based distros released in the past two years. On other distributions, just unpack/install it manually.

The package does not include any textures or presets, these have to be downloaded separately. For a start, use the Cream of the Crop preset pack and projectM's basic texture pack. Download, unzip and then configure projectMSDL to use the respective directories.

To toggle the UI, press ESC. There's also a help menu with additional information about hotkeys and program arguments.

If you want to edit the configuration manually, the user-specific configuration is stored at ~/.config/projectM/projectMSDL.properties - the path/file might not exist until you save the settings one in the application. See the default configuration file in /usr/share/projectM/projectMSDL.properties for details on the different settings.

Remember this is a development build, so crashes and bugs are to be expected. Nonetheless, please report any issues you find in the main projectM issue tracker!
